The phone looks cool, and it should for $400 dollars. The service from AT&T is really bad. Using voice activated calling is really important to me, so when I found out how hard it was to work with, and that it cost an additional $5 a month, it really upset me. All in all, I'd keep my Blackberry. The internet is very, very, very, very (did I say very) slow. The dropped calls are truly annoying. My thoughts, if they had connected with a different company, like Sprint or Verizon, it would have been a flawless marriage! Not worth it at all.

I bought this phone 2 months ago. Since it has been back to Apple 2 times and then they sent me a new phone. You would think this would be the cure, a new phone. Nope the new one goes through the battery in about 2 hours, it drops calls, can't find the server, randomly changes ringtones, doesn't ring at all about half the time, can't access voicemail 20% of the time. It is kinda like dial-up also. Everyone raves about this phone but for me it is so bad I only have to hold out until April 24th and I am due for an upgrade on my last phone. This will just be an expensive ipod. Oh yeah and you need a better computer to sync it. would have been nice to know this before I bought it but at&t doesn't work on them and the nearest apple store.....3 hours away. Sadly AT&T is selling a product they can't help you with.
it has some cool features when the phone is working. The people at Apple are always nice but you know I really don't want to be friends I just want a phone that works.
I have had two lemons. It costs a lot. wish I had bought an ipod touch to get the features and had a phone separate.

This is a great music player and is ok for internet, but sucks as a phone. It has no Flash so some sites won't display fully. It will bring up every web page except MSN.com and logging into hotmail. It sucks as a phone because 1)no voice dial. 2)no voice memo. 3) can't read or store contacts to your sim card. 4) No MMS. 5)No AD2P for using a stereo blue tooth headset for music. 6)Camera has no video or sound recording and no zoom or wide angle. Just point and shoot 7) No use as a storage or drive for files or folders. 8) Too many steps just to dial 911. Even dialing a number from your contacts requires you to still pick their number after you hit their name in the contact list, instead of just touching the name to call them. Lastly, Notes or calendar won't sync information to your PC, or vice a versa.
Good sound for music through the supplied headphones. Internet is good for sites that don't have flash. Brings up every page except MSN and Hot Mail.
Phone: No voice dial, MMS, No sim card support, too many steps to dial numbers and contacts. Can't be used as a portable drive. Safari browser can't download anything. Notes and calendar won't sync to PC.

The phone is cool for a while, but the size is awkward for long phone calls. The phone is easily scratched, and the battery life (with heavy use) leaves a lot to be desired. The internet speed is painfully slow and the phone is not designed to be useful for business. Typing e-mails is tedious, at best.
easy interface, music playing features, youtube and good web browsing (but, sadly, on the slow, non-3g connection)
cost (you can get better business phones for much less), few solid warranty options, scratches easily, slow internet connection, shoddy battery life, mediocre camera

I have had many phones in my life, but this one is the best, by far! The features are great. I love the satellite GPS, watching YouTube at the airport, the interface is cool. The camera is awesome, too.

It's the little things that count and overall the iphone delivers. Once you start using it you realise that a lot of time has gone into making it user friendly and polished. You'd need to try it yourself to get an feel for it.
Great features, simple to use, great multimedia applications. Try out the other phones on this site and you'll realise just how easy the iphone is to use.
the great thing about the iphone is any features which are missing can be added at a later time with updates. New applications are being developed which will improve the features on the iphone. Two things I dont like are lack of FM radio and having to use itunes all the time. Divx support would have been nice, but im nitpicking here.

The only cool thing is the touch screen. But does a touch screen worth 400$? Clearly not, especially when theire are now smartphones wich are much more reliable, powerfull and cheaper. Even the web browser ability is useless because of the Iphone internet speed. Even the interface is just ugly. Paying 400$ for Apple's logo... call it whatever you want but it appears to me as a huge scam.
Useless and very expensive
Very expensive

Im really picky with cell phones and this is the best phone/product i have owned in a long time. Apple's customer service is also great, i had a minor problem with my phone and they just replaced it.
email, video, ipod, great camera (depending on lighting conditions) Does everything my computer can do. Real-time internet is awesome.
Internet is a little slow, but its faster than most phones.

I had the phone for 7 days and returned it. If you use this phone for personal entertainment, then it is by far the best. But if you need something that has business functionality, forget it. I use Microsoft Outlook and rely on it extensively in my business. This phone does not synch well with Outlook. Further, when rescheduling or making multiple appointments, this phone (unlike Windows Mobile phones) will not allow you to cut and paste. Finally, as we all know, Outlook has a function called "Tasks", which allows you to follow up on things that on your "to do" list. No such function on the Iphone, and, accordingly, it does not synch with that function of Outlook. If you want to assign certain sounds as ring tones, you have to buy the ring tones or you have to hack the phone. Just very poor planning for people with business needs.
Great interface.
Poor for business functionality.

There's nothing special about this phone other than commercials and fanatic zombies waiting hours infront of an Apple store to get one. Multitouch is nice but not that "great".
Multi Touch, Music, Wi-Fi, Safari
Extremely Fragile, No 3G, No 3rd Party Apps

I know everyone has been fooled, conned or outright lied in regards to technology and in particular "ease of use," but the iPhone is EVERYTHING it claims to be. I've been using cell phones since the early 1990's and sure, lots of cell phones promise a thousand features but who has time to learn yet another OS? Why does my Moto "fast dial" take three menus and submenus to access? EVERYTHING on the iPhone is one or at most two taps away. No guessing or trying to remember if the feature you want is under SETTINGS or PREFERENCES ... so not only do you get Text, a Calendar, photo access, camera, youTube, stocks, weather, maps (with traffic!), clock, calculator, and notes ALL with one tap ... and if that's not enough for a phone - how about a built in video ipod AND a full internet browser? Then add in a gorgeous 3.5" screen that works indoors and outdoors PLUS the pinch expand feature to read every web page in every size you prefer (or your photos) and the phone screen will rotate in landscape or vertical view. As if that's not enough - some features that no one talks about - when you sync, it backs up EVERY file and EVERY setting ... so if you need to reset your phone for some reason, 10 minutes and your phone is restored. It syncs with your calendar, address books, photos and EVEN your bookmarks through iTunes. Type in all your info on a computer and sync/transfer by clicking SYNC in Itunes. You also get software upgrades and feature upgrades (like the WiFi iTunes add-on) for FREE. Apple has continually tweaked the iPhone to improve it. And of course, just added - "free" ringtones you can create yourself (they also sell iTunes ringtones). That's quite a list of features NO ONE can match but there's the biggest one of all - there are 200 Apple stores (with one 24/7 in NYC) that you can go to ask to ask questions or resolve any problems. Try that at a kiosk for one of the other phones and see how far you get. Every tech company promises the moon and delivers a low res photo of the moon but the iPhone is different. EVERY Apple has the iPhone charged and ready for you to play with - so test it out yourself - spend as much time as you like - you'll see. As for the whole 3G/EDGE thing - while other phones promise you the internet (how much extra are you paying - with the iPhone, it's included UNLIMITED in the $59 plan), as the famousYouTube shows, what you get is the "mobile" internet with lots of text on phones like the Nokia and SLOWER on 3G than the FULL INTERNET on the iPhone even at EDGE. EDGE is slower than 3G but just marginally slower for a LOT less (3G is $60 extra on top of everything or $120 a month minimum with cell phone coverage) and NO OTHER phone offers you the full internet with zoom, & all the graphics (no Flash or Flash ads). Not sure if web urls are allowed but you can read further here: http://2aday.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/iphone-buying-guide-should-i-buy-an-iphone-part-i/ Or to see the YouTube video of an iPhone versus the Nokia web surfing : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzETYbGEqgo
The best cell phone EVER (no hyperbole). All 35 features accessible with one or two taps. Fill internet access, email access, sync, backup, iTunes sync - upgrades & new features FREE, great screen, 8 GB (no extra memory cards to buy), built in ipod and Apple stores to answer any and all questions.
AT&T coverage not the greatest.

This is the best phone out there for people who want a new phone. One that is less like a phone and more like a computer. It is stunning. I would many times just stop, then go show some new cool thing to a friend i just found i could do. So much easier than anything out there. If you want a phone, don't get the iphone. If you want an enjoyable phone that you can use for photos, movies, music, internet, email, maps, etc... go for it. I mean seriously, who really surfs the internet on their little WAP RAZRs? Or has itunes on their phone. Or checks the weather whenever they feel like it? NO ONE! Because its to hard. But the iPhone makes it easy to do the stuff you always wanted, but couldn't or didn't.
Internet is actually usable on this thing. Easy to enjoy. Makes it easy to use things you never would on a cellphone.
Not a typical cellphone (but who wants one)

I've owned cell phones, smart phones, iPods, and hand held computers. The iPhone is all four in one, and it is the best mobile device I have ever used. If you are using another mobile device, you are missing out, period.
Beautiful screen. Touch interface is amazing. Excellent battery life. Best mobile web browser, period. Great iPod. Google Maps on the iPhone is a killer app. Phone quality is clear and strong.
AT&T network only in US. 3G is slow (but not as slow as many make it out to be). No built in IM client (use Meebo on the web until one arrives). No video capture, only camera stills. Camera pics are grainy in low light (there is no Flash). Minor squibbles for an otherwise awesome device.

I have owned this phone since September and while it is good at what it does it has several shortcomings that would have made this phone perfect. It amazes me that they make a media rich phone and dont include the abilty to mms photos. Sounds are a BIG pitfall for me. I want to cutomize my own sounds. They fixed the ringtones thing but come on what about SMS and Email tones.
Internet is the greatest at how it shows websites. It is like being on a mini computer.
Sounds,MMS,Copy and Paste, No Stereo Bluetooth

I know gazillions of articles and reviews have been written on this. Clearly Apple has done it again. The iPhone lives up to its marketing hype. I have been a mobile phone user since 1997 and I feel this is a breakthrough device. It get me the functionality I need right at my finger tips - and it is very slick. But I think soon it will become like the RAZR, everyone will have it, so it won't be 'cool' to have it. I guess I'll get the next cool device then, perhaps the next Apple xyzPhone!
Breakthrough approach to mobile devices. Intuitive and not complex UI (typical Apple).
The edge network sucks, and though they claim to allow you to the 'surf the Internet as the Internet' - at these speeds, I'd rather not!

Its only after a colleague at work got a new iPHone that I felt really motivated enough to get one for myself. BTW, I am someone who perhaps changes my cell phone every 4 months. I thought it was really cool to have just "one" device to belt out all the songs that I wanted to hear and use it as a phone as well. Clearly I was drawn towards towards the amazing one of a king display that made it a sensation thsi year. That wasn't because of Apple but because of teh cool apps offered by independent developers.Another cool thing about it is you get to actually flip through downloaded albums much like the way we used to flip through CD albums. I think in terms of display and design alone I would have given it 4 or 5 stars had it not been for the fact that I shattered the glass barely 2 weeks after I had it. Even though it has this cool futuristic touchscreen that auto rotates from from portrait to landscape, the glass screen is a real bummer. This is not meant for unsteady hands or for moms like me with 3 young kids on their hands. The Apple support folks at the genius bar gave me a new phone for another $250 odd but yes this one is not for nimble fingers.Go for it if you are someone who likes to enjoy the whole experience with cool iPod functions and new touch based approach to phoning but dont expect it to have a great call quality.Something to remember is that it lacks some basic features found in many cell phones, including stereo Bluetooth support. This is also no phone for executives so don't expect this to be your replacement for BlackBerry.Overall, I am not complaining. I still think it looks rather neat and is still worthy of all teh news that it created .
1. Unique slim display that makes it a really "HOT" gadget to have 2. iPod functions - Amazing Audio ,video and display 3.Instant access to cool apps like stock quotes and maps on the go 3.Cool touch based scrolling functions 4.The Safar browser experience
1.Glass cover 2.Crowded keyboard 3.Poor call quality (blame it on AT&T perhaps!)

I am completely disgruntled with this phone. I should never have bought it - I bought into the crazy hype. It doesn't have nearly enough memory for me and I can't voice dial with my car kit. Also, Apple was so focused on the complicated stuff, it forgot some basics, like sending text messages to more than one person at a time. For the cost and the hype, this phone should be MUCH better. Microsoft's phone will be so much better. Apple just sucks.
It looks nice.
Lack of basic functions (text messaging to multiple people, IM, custom ringtones, etc.), lack of memory storage, poor Bluetooth technology

1. Does not have copy and paste functionality. 2. Safari considers every 10 digit number a phone number, even if it is a tracking number or something. 3. No way to switch between applications without going to the home screen first. So for instance, if you using the pop mail application, click on a link in your email, it goes to safari but once you're done with safari, you can't go back to mail app without pressing home button. 4. Safari supports tab/multiple window browsing but no way to right click and open a link in a new window. 5. After you close the new window in safari, your original window still navigates to the new page and disables the "back" button as well. So you've to go to history and navigate from there. 6. No way to close the keyboard. Start the SMS application, create a new SMS, press send, keyboard stays there. 7. iPhone puts timestamp on SMS conversation when it feels convinient to do so. 8. Can't just turn off the phone without turning off wi-fi as well. 9. Can't play games without an internet connection. 10. Can't change the auto-correct feature of iphone. 11. Can't record videos. 12. Claims to have "full version" of the web available on iphone but no flash support. Can't even pan around a map on google/yahoo/live maps etc. or similar applications. 13. Can't delete pictures from your photo gallery. Can only delete on pc and sync again. 14. Can't rate songs on "iPod". 15. Album art don't change once the song changes in album flip mode. 16. No snooze feature for reminders.
